The first Leil Shishi was filled with energy, learning, and spiritual preparation for the upcoming Yamim Noraim. In the month of Elul, we are reminded of the importance of reflecting on our Mitzvos, including checking our Tefillin, and this event provided the perfect opportunity to do so. Students had the unique experience of learning how to check their own Tefillin, an invaluable skill that will enhance their personal connection to this daily Mitzva. Rabbi Rickman guided us through the process of ensuring that our Tefillin straps remain black, teaching us how to carefully paint over any scratches. Rabbi Schwarz provided hands-on help in straightening the knots on our Tefillin Shel Yad, while Rabbi Schwalbe gave expert advice on adjusting the knots on our Tefillin Shel Rosh. In the Sefer Torah department, Rabbi Simmonds taught us the proper way to receive an Aliyah, and we even had the chance to practice Hagbah and Gelila under the watchful eye of Rabbi Wulwick. The atmosphere was electric as students moved from one station to the next in a dynamic, carousel-style learning experience. Each station was filled with excitement and a sense of accomplishment as students mastered these essential skills. Leil Shishi concluded with a well-deserved pizza break, organised by Rabbi Schwartz. The room was buzzing not only with the joy of learning but also with the camaraderie and enthusiasm that comes from being part of such a meaningful and engaging event. The evening was introduced and led by Rabbi Cohen and supported by our dedicated sixth formers volunteers, helping run the stations and assist younger peers throughout the night.
